The medium of collage can be both inspiring and soothing. Looking at and selecting imagery to use within your artwork that “calls” to your life path can be reflective and a great experience to assist your inner spirit awareness. The process of collage creation gives you time to contemplate, deciding which imagery means something to you, what speaks to your soul. It creates the perfect opportunity to create a work of art filled with your own energy - a 2D collage that can help manifest positive needs in your life.
You are invited to experience a creative workshop where the goal is to create a paper collage that will help manifest positive intentions in your life through imagery, color and text.
5” x 7” matboards will be provided as well as (mostly vintage) papers and books for collage/cutting purposes. Acid-free paper glue of preference will be provided, however you may bring your own glue if desired.
Please bring your own sharp scissors: two pairs would be ideal: one larger pair for background cutting and another smaller pair for detail trimming.
You are welcome to bring ANY paper materials you would like to use. This could include magazines, printed materials from the web, photographs, etc. – anything that inspires you!
The instruction includes offering a starting point to your collage which demonstrates backgrounds and how to add layers of imagery and convey a story. Also discussed are cutting hints, tearing techniques for texture, gluing techniques, copyright information, how to find and use materials for creating at home, etc. Over the class length I will assist with any questions and help individuals assemble their collage. Please note that some may not complete their collage within the class time, while other participants may make as many as they like during the allotted time. The last hour of the class we will share our works with one another and then bless them - leaving one another on a positive, highly inspirational note.
